Although social media platforms and live chat methods are becoming very popular, email marketing is still the king of marketing channels. A DMA study found that for every $1 spent, emails have an average $38 return on investment! Email marketing may seem like an archaic form of marketing and communication; however, it is still beats out social media platforms.

The best marketing strategy uses both social media and email marketing. For now, we will focus on what email marketing is and why it is essential to have in your business. Email Marketing is simply sending promotional messages to people in mass quantities. It is used to generate sales or retain customers. Here are some steps to help you build an email marketing campaign.

- Find an email marketing platform.
Many platforms exist such as Lemlist, Mailshake, and Sendinblue. Sign up for one of these platforms to use.
2. Generate an email list.
You can either gather email lists manually (not recommended) or create an offer to your customers for their email. (Ex: give them coupons in exchange for their email address)
3. Regularly schedule outreach.
Consistency is key and your customers will be likely to engage with your emails if you send them information and deals on a consistent basis.

Email marketing is still king because it’s an effective way to keep customers informed, it’s inexpensive, and many people still use email today. The graph above shows that email marketing still has more users than all other social media forms combined (note, this graph is from 2019 and does take TikTok’s growth into account). Now, I am not saying to use social media less. The key is to use both on a consistent basis, and your company will grow.
